Project Philosophy

It has been said by enough people to “always begin with the end in mind” I approach the projects that I am involved with that state of mind. To identify the issues before they become problems and to anticipate surprises before someone is promised the world. The making of objects both functional and non-functional must always be forged to exceed the highest standards of design, ideal, meticulousness, detail, and execution or it is only second rate. I have always held my standards of making things both functional and non-functional, meticulous and detail oriented to the highest degree.

Clarifying the expectations of everyone involved in the process beforehand and delivering a product that exceeds those expectations is the first priority. Through proper planning, shop drawing and the submittal process, issues and fabrication approaches are resolved before a project hits the shop floor. Everyone involved from the client, the project manager, the machinist, the artisan and the laborer understand what the finished project is to be, how it is to feel, why it is being made and when it has to be finished and out the door. Surprises are eliminated or at worst, easily resolved.

I have discovered that everything we put our minds to is a project. Be it building a table, a complex lighting fixture, opening a restaurant or planning a vacation. the end result is always dependent on the planning. I do my best to get it right the first time. I have learned through my failures and successes that these are the key elements required to get things done effectively, magnificently and on time.

I sincerely value the time you have taken to view my website. I hope that you will enjoy exploring all of the various interesting projects I have had the opportunity to design, build, manage and participate in.

Thanks,

Scott S. Behr
